Jonathan Edwards' first collection, My Family and Other Superheroes (Seren) won the Costa Poetry Award and the Wales Book of the Year People's Choice Award. It was shortlisted for the Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize. 

His poems have won prizes in the Cardiff International Poetry Competition, the Ledbury Festival International Poetry Competition and the Basil Bunting Award, and appeared in a range of magazines, including The Interpreter's House, Poetry Review, Poetry Wales, New Welsh Review and The North. He works as a teacher.

All proceeds of the competition are used to fund future issues of TIH.

Entry Conditions

  • Entrants must be 18 years or over.
  • Poems must be submitted in English and should be a maximum of 50 lines.
  • Entries must be the original work of the entrant. Translations of the work of other poets will not be accepted.
  • Poems must not have been published or be currently submitted for publication.
  • Each poem must by typed in black on one side of A4 using a clear font such as Times or Arial 12 point. Each additional poem must be typed on a separate page. Only the poem title should be included with each poem. 
  • The author's name must NOT appear on the poems. An Entry Form, covering letter or email should accompany all entries and give the name and contact details of the author. We are unable to return entries.
  • The closing date for entries is midnight on 30th January 2016.
  • Prize winners will be notified by 31st March 2016.
  • Prize winners will be announced on the TIH website in April 2016.
  • The decision of the judge is final and TIH is unable to enter into correspondence with entrants regarding the prize winners.
  • Copyright remains with the authors but winning entries will be published in Issue 62 of TIH.
